What Does God See in You
What Does God See in You
God is always looking at us, to see what we are doing -- whether it be good or bad – He is not of the Deist philosophy, that He created and then ignored us – He is not like a pest looking over our shoulder and bothering and smothering us – He is not like a little kid who irritates siblings by staring at them (and then they say, Mommy, he’s looking at me again!), but rather He looks down at us as a loving, concerned Father
Ps 33:13-15
13 The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. 15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
God looks down from his habitation, Heaven -- Looks on all the sons of men, all the inhabitants of earth – and sees every single one of us and what we do.
Heb 4:13
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
He has made (fashioned) us all alike as mankind -- all have the same basic makeup, a spirit and a body – and he saw that it all was very good
Gen 2:7
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Gen 2:21-22
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Gen 1:31
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
He looks down and sees (considers) all our works – both good and evil – every single one, all that we do (saw me shoot sister in leg with B-B gun, and saw all the other dumb things I ever did)
Prov 15:3
3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
Evil -- And he is well aware of the evil that men do
Gen 6:12-13 (men of Noah’s day)
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Good -- And he is well aware of the good that men do
Jonah 3:10 (men of Nineveh)
10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Matt 10:42
Even “a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple” does not go unnoticed!
And he does not forget the good that we do.
Heb 6:9-10
9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. 10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
God looks for people who will seek Him – this is our primary purpose on earth
Acts 17:24-28f
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being;
But the prideful wicked don’t seek Him – think they can handle things on their own – and selfish with what they have
Ps 10:3-4 (wicked think they are self-sufficient)
3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth. 4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Zech 7:9-12 (the Lord speaks the right things to do – but the wicked don’t listen)
9 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: 10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. 11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.
Don’t seek counsel through mediums and wizards – lot of people turn to spiritualism (mediums, wizards, astrologers) – but rather seek after the living God
Isa 8:18-19f
18 Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion. 19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God?
We are to seek Him by faith – and in so doing there is great reward – believe that He is, and believe that He rewards the diligent seekers
Heb 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
1 John 5:4f
This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith
We are to seek Him with a humble spirit – the Lord appreciated a quiet, humble spirit more than any physical gift. And we seek him by praising him and thanking him for all that he has done.
Ps 69:30-32
30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. 31 This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. 32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
God looks for people who strive to understand Him and His ways – but unfortunately very few do – most go their own way
Ps 14:2-3
2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Both Jew and Greek have not sought God’s wisdom
1 Cor 1:21-24
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Most close their eyes and ears (like monkeys, but then they miss out on God’s word) – lest they should understand – but the righteous love the Lord and listen to him
Matt 13:15-16
15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
In Jesus are hid all the treasures of true wisdom and knowledge – when a kid used to bury “treasure” in a tin can, and valued it highly – but Jesus has all the treasure we will ever need.
Col 2:1-3
2 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
God looks for people who are not willing to abandon Him -- but will serve Him all the days of their lives – God appreciates loyalty
Heb 3:12-14
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
So stay close to God, don’t abandon Him, and he will never abandon us – but will show ultimate loyalty and bless us abundantly (he is not affected by partiality, politics, emotion)
1 Peter 3:10-12
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
So, God looks down at us! What does God see in us? He sees a valuable soul worth more than the whole world -- that he loves and gave His only begotten son to die for -- and He calls to us to come and be saved for eternity!!
Mark 8:36-37
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mark 8:34-35
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
